Subterranean Animism Released — Hide the Plutonium

August 16th, 2008

Yes yes yes, I know about the nuclear loli, the girl that guards the gates of hell, cerberus-loli, love-power heart bullet extra boss, and of course, Sanae. As much as I’d love to play, it’s 1:00am and freaking 95 degrees here somehow, which means that I’m posting this and getting as far away from my heat belching laptop as possible. I’m sure someone will have completely run through the game on Lunatic and Extra by the time I wake up… hopefully not drenched in my own sweat.

If you’re really bored, you can watch screenshot compilations set to annoying music. Hooray!

Melty Blood Actress Again Official Exhibition Video

August 11th, 2008

Thanks a ton to Tim for pointing this out to me.
Sega went ahead and put together an exhibition video for the new movesets and such. This really is seriously what a sequel should be like. Hisui’s Ex-Throne and Ex-Ladder were especially hilarious. I really really hope the PC port is a bit quicker than the almost 2 years this time around. Aroduc wanna plaaaaaaaay. Crushing Survival Mode with random characters can only entertain me for so long.

Magical Battle Arena New Demo — Kirara

August 10th, 2008

Grab it here.
Kirara plays pretty similarly to Nanoha, only a lot slower. Her melee special is the sword rush, ranged is just a charged version of her normal ranged (a very slow thrown bomb), and her shield special is an Ex-Shield. Her supers are a little wacky. Her single person super summons Sarara if it hits. Sarara shoots at the enemy, who dodges, and then Kirara shoots the enemy on the dodge. Her other super is the giant pentagram seen in previous promos which travels a short distance forward. She honestly seems a bit lackluster compared to Lina and Nanoha after three to four minutes of messing around with her, but I guess we’ll see. Her pentagram super does come out lightning fast compared to the Dragon Slave/Starlight Breaker though.

Melty Blood: Actress Again Location Test — Riesbyfe

August 3rd, 2008

Edit: The uploaded disabled embeding for some reason, just click here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=81SKGXKDT6M

There are some more videos of the location test here, but no others of Ries or Roa that I can find as of yet (though I’m welcome to be proven wrong). For being controlled by the CPU against a pretty substandard Len, I guess Ries looks alright. Len’s new ice shield (ground or air!) and little flair projectile both excite me, though it’s still in the location testing phase so… nothing is really set as anything yet. Ries kind of makes me think of Samurai Shodown’s Haohmaru from what I’ve seen thus far. It could just be the spinning slash uppercut though. It looks like most people are getting quite a few new moves and changes to how they play. Full Moon Warachia is almost unrecognizable. All of Akiha’s specials are crazy souped up too, in Crescent and Full.

Touhou Splinter Cell: CODE-R and Tokkyu Tenshi Promos

August 3rd, 2008

If I could take a moment from all the anime posts today… Somewhere, somebody thought that what Splinter Cell really really needed was to be changed into a side scroller with Reimu as the protagonist, and thus do we get Code-R. I have to admit that it does look pretty decent though. Tokkyu Tenshi is by the very talented EasyGameStation (Recettear, Chantelise and Gunner’s Heart), and looks every bit as good as all three of those. It basically appears to be a side scrolling platformer/race with all sorts of wacky things and competitive/cooperative play. Plus, their Engrish is second to none in pure amusement factor.

Magical Battle Arena Extended Trailer

July 21st, 2008

Sick of hearing about MBA yet? Tough. The first 3 minutes are the same as the previous trailer, but then it goes through each of the ‘normal’ characters (ie, not Lina, Naga or Kukuri), lists their moveset, shows a couple of them, shows their overdrive transformation, and small parts of most of the supers are at the end. Whee. I wasn’t expecting there to be so many melee/’combo’ normal specials though (Sakura’s "The Fight") for example given that Lina and Nanoha both have none, but most of the other characters seem to have at least one.

ChinchillaSoft’s Reign of Terror — Mikomiko Kagamin/Clannad RPG

July 18th, 2008

 Mikomiko Kagamin Gameplay

Ahhh ChinchillaSoft… the only doujin group insane enough to think that Spelunker was a game worth remaking… only with the Clannad characters. Mikomiko Kagamin looks pretty bad personally, but I have to admit that their creatively titled Clannad RPG (which seems to have only just recently begun development) does look like it could be pretty fun, although I wonder why they felt the need to include a topless Kyou sprite in one of their updates. At least working on other projects means that they’ll spend less time making yet more increasingly incomprehensible versions of Tomoya Fighter.

Caps from Mikomiko Kagamin (I assume due out at Summer Comiket if they’re releasing promo vids) and Clannad RPG (due out god only knows when) after the cut.
