In/Spectre #02 — Building to Nothing

January 18th, 2020

This whole episode deserved to be sprayed in the face with toxins.

Impressions:

What a stupid episode. Yes, shocking that I would not be a fan of an episode that was entirely talking, but it's not just that. It's that it was just rambling nonsense. She visits a snake to theorycraft about some woman who dumped a body. Not investigate the murder. Not solve the mystery. Not even try to do anything of the sort. To come up with an explanation that the goofy halfwit of a snake will decide is good enough. It could have been over 10 seconds into the conversation. It might be a three episode arc. Who knows! It's up to whenever the snake stops arguing.

But even that's not the worst part. Maybe it could've wrapped things up with at least some kind of weak denouement about the nature of… I don't even know, the truth, or what we believe in, or how much we care about people dumping bodies in our swamps. But it doesn't. The episode just ends mid conversation, no point ever reached, no conclusion sought, nothing built to, nothing anythinged. How the hell is this a multi-episode arc? Maybe we should stop overanimating pouring out soup and invest a couple more dollars to hire writers paid by something other than the word.

Yea all this talking heads really ask to FF the whole episode, and at then end nothing even happens, what a waste of time.

I think this show commits a bigger sin than being bad: it is boring, nothing happens.. slowly, the characters have no personalities and the show simply looks bad.

I was wondering why the snake didn’t ask loli how she moves around with the grace of an Olympian let alone para Olympian. Did she forget her gimmick of missing one leg? She should get one of those running blades attached. Plus the accused woman is as dumb as rocks and deserves to go down.

I dont know the source material so I had high hopes for this but instead got this ep. My main issue was the same, not only was it all talking but most of it empty speculation and the snake being obsessed with semantics

If you thought that there would be action here you are wrong. I suggest you avoid this if you are not the biggest fan of long dialogue because I can guarantee that this anime will consist of 90% dialogue and nothing more. Only a few scene of action tho and that is only in the main arc which will be coming next episode.
