Harley Quinn #38 — Grand Theft Clavicle

July 27th, 2023

Yes, yes. We all know about Nightwing's dumpy.

Oh, okay. This show's back for the remainder of the season. And in parallel to Nier dumping out four episodes to (not actually) end itself this week, this dumped out three episodes to start its new season. I think I'll just do one a day for the next three days though.

Impressions:

Back in 2022, the last thing I had to say about this show (because I skipped covering the extremely NSFW sex-crazed giant Bane interlude where he raped downtown into rubble) was "Also, didn't she murder Hatter anyway? Bat family's just letting stuff like that ride now? Because she appreciates Nightwing's butt?" So that seems a little either precognizant or perhaps repetitive that Harley murders Professor Pyg over Nightwing's butt. More literally this time, though it has to be asked where exactly they had this all set up if Pyg had his entire puppet army and partially constructed Franken-Zoolander on site. Weren't they luring him out? From the warehouse they were already in and filled with dismembered bodies?

I don't feel like either side of the plot was all that interesting or creative though. Quips here and there were still pretty funny, but Ivy being dropped into the boys club of the Legion felt very much like a rehash of her taking over leadership of Harley's gang and all the squabbling with Psycho previously. And Harley with the Bat Family was also fairly repetitive of the previously mentioned last murder of C list villain and appreciation of Nightwing's can. I know the bit in Bruce's prison was setup, but that also seemed pretty unresolved, and I'm not even sure if it was meant to be a dig at rich peoples' prisons in general, or the luxurious Wayne prison. Similar with Lex. Off to the moon, and uh, bye? I know production time is a thing, but you'd think there'd be some digs at Musk and his own puppet CEO there, or is that fruit hanging too low?

This is part of production order 4 and not S3 anymore. The same goes for the Valentine’s Day special. Its now a 10 ep show for both S3 and 4.

The novelty ran out after 2 seasons but it´s still good.
