Kyousougiga #07 — Poking and Hugging

November 27th, 2013

So much for hopes that this would move forward with any kind of agency.

Impressions:

I don’t know what I was hoping for. Maybe that one of the siblings would go crazy with separation anxiety and kidnap her, or the mad scientists would jam her into a hamster wheel, or moon facehugger would hitch a ride back with them and be taken in by Weyland-Yutani. There’s all kinds of things I could’ve been up for. Instead, just about the entire first 15 minutes can be summarized as "Koto1 pokes or hugs things." Oh, and Koto2 is speeeeeeeeeeeeecial, something that I’m getting particularly tired of hearing said about main characters this season. Yeah, we know they’re all the godchildren without whom nobody else in the world could function. That’s a protagonist. Maybe we could spend more time on the proto in there though so we wouldn’t have to spend as much time simply stating that they’re the center of the world.

Something did start happening… elsewhere… once daddy came back, but that wasn’t until about 21 minutes into the episode and I had long since zoned out and instead begun wondering what the show would be like if you replaced everyone with labradoodles. There’d certainly be less yapping, for one.

Next Episode:

Death rifts and doom bubbles.

My first guess is that this is supposed to be a “healing” story of sorts…

My second guess is that the writers have written themselves in a corner with no ideas of where to take the story…
