High School DxD #15 — How About Some Men?
July 7th, 2013
Â
If not for the naked time bookending the episode crowbarred in, this would have been utterly pointless.
Impressions:
This show continues to mystify me. They had to know that the stripperific ED was the only good part of the first season. At the very least, they had to be aware that the girls are what people want to see. So then why would they once again spend most of the first third on his obnoxious friends, boring dry exposition, and apparently an arc about the boring male sidekick who *gasp* has gone from jobber to jobber? You’e not airing in the evening anymore, show. You’re airing at like, 4:30 am on a Sunday relative to me, so I’m tired and generally cranky.
About the only particularly positive thing I can say about the episode is the crazy antagonist as that one priest guy (might even be the same one, hell if I remember) was the only effective one in the first season. The animation hasn’t gotten any better despite its overtures to being an action show, and it’s not even good for the fanservice either. That was about where expectations lied. “Some nice eyecandy to look at,” and it didn’t even manage that. I don’t know what they’re trying to do. Well, actually, I do. They’re trying to put as little effort and money into adapting the source material as possible.

“the boring male sidekick”
My inner fujoshi is deeply offended.
