Dog Days #22 — Battle on the Bridge

September 1st, 2012

Needed more of the puffy eared dog girl… whoever the hell that was.

Impressions:

Bleh. An entire episode dealing with that kiss from last week, and by dealing with, I mean Eclair being grumpy and insecure as the entire cast attempts to pound in a moral lesson that most people have learned from ANY CHILDREN’S TV SHOW EVER. Hell, not even Leo’s own people were cheering when she had Eclair beat. That’s how one-sided and machinated this came off. Everyone just waiting patiently for Rico to finish her insipid little speech so they could all collectively cheer for Eclair triumphing over her own insecurities until the next time the show feels like making a thing out of them.

Her fight wasn’t great either. It wasn’t quite down to… say… this season’s AT-X levels, but there were a hell of a lot more ugly stills and jerky, uneven animation than the show usually has. Plus, trying to wring actual melodrama out of the mock battles at this point is exceedingly silly. All they can do until introducing some at least flimsy excuse for things be different now yo is try to make them cool looking and this one was far from that. I’d rather have seen more of Nanami washing her pussy.

9 Shouts From the Peanut Gallery

  • I think her name is Ange. And so far she’s really been a bit part. It’s not clear just why they introduced her into the show, unless perhaps it’s for her to be a love interest for Emilio, who is also a bit part.

But yeah, that eye catch of her was pretty wonderful.

I know it won’t happen, because…Japan, but I still think Eclair should end up with Sink and not the princess. Alas, I realize the script is written to taunt people that way.

Green hair never wins over pink hair.

  • There was an interview with the director, who said that there isn’t any plot in this series. It’s just setting things up for a third series, which will have a major plot.
