Is This a Zombie? #03 — MaskDonald’s

January 24th, 2011

I’m loving it.

Impressions:

Bleh. This was a pretty shameless T&A episode centered around Ayumu’s douchebag friend who distinguishes himself by being boring as sin. Seriously, in a show about magical chainsaw girls, necromancers, vampire druid ninjas, and a zombie, do we really need an episode about some loser going bowling and hitting on girls? All he’s good for are his T&A daydreams about the cast and even then, you can achieve the same result by just looking at some screencaps. I think MaskDonald’s and ultimate Jenga may have been the highlights of the episode, sadly enough. Well, outside of Sera’s bowling outfit. Girl knows how to look good, even if she did apparently have breast reduction surgery since the last episode. At least Haruna found some pants this week.

The only other thing going on was Ayumu meeting a girl (Kyoko) that claims to be attacked by the same person that attacked him, and describes the suspect as Eu. It remains to be seen whether someone else is framing Eu or if Twintails is behind it herself, but it’s not a terribly interesting twist either way. We’ve already seen that Eu doesn’t like even casually talking about death, so a random girl popping up out of nowhere, shoving her breasts into Ayumu’s face, and claiming that she’s a serial killer doesn’t exactly hold much water unless you’re a twit. Besides, those breasts are small time compared to what is already draped around the house.

    Damnit, Sera is too hott!!

It’s more then a little annoying that Ayumu is buying Kyoko’s story at all. He really should know better after last week. Plus she’s way too cute to be guilty. Now Haruna… I’d buy her as a serial killer.

    • Aex says:

And by “she” of course I mean Eu is too cute to be guilty. Kyoko gives off a very guilty feeling right now.

      • Rewriter says:

I don’t know about cute man… Have you seen that red-eyed, white Digimon on that other show? When you peer into its eyes, it’s like a ginger.

        ——————

Maybe at that time when Ayumu was killed, hidden ninjas asked Eu for the directions to god knows what Sera was talking about, and she’d only tell them if they kill Ayumu so she can resurrect and be with him forever.

Though I do think Eu is innocent.

        • Aroduc says:

That creature that a protagonist has been saying is evil and has been trying to kill since episode one? I’m pretty sure the red herring would be if it wasn’t evil.

  • Longhaul says:

Its too blatent and comes off as a red herring.

    • Nanaya says:

Which would actually make it the perfect plot twist. Everyone discounts it because it’s so blatantly given, but it turns out it’s true and she was just fucking with everyone the entire time and is actually an evil manipulator doing some social experiment of some sort on him and the others, and was even manipulating him by implanting those fantasies in his head to make him more maleable.

Of course, pulling that off would require better writing skills than I’ve seen in anime in a long time. So yeah, blatant red herring.

      Agreed.

  • Gin says:

Can someone tell me how being a zombie makes you amazing at bowling? Does being undead simply make you better than regular humans?

  • Jack says:

    A couple of thoughts…

♫♪ – it’s possible that there is more than one necromancer floating around and maybe Eu was suppose to be part of the killing party, but wussed out because she couldn’t/can’t stand killing. She then found Ayumu and…hmmm…

♪♫ – it’s possible that Eu is the killer, originally killed Ayumu, but remembered his kindness in front of the store and saved him out of regret. What? Too “Little House On The Prairie”?

♫♪ – the twin-tail jailbait in the hospital room is a monster framing Eu because a “monster” (like the kind in District 9) actually IS THE SERIAL KILLER!11!!1 Eu, chasing the monster, found Ayumu dying and made him a zombie to help her over come her fear of killing and find the other killers or her necromancer who are killing with wanton abandon.

♪♫ – a zombie, a necromancer, a vampire ninja and a magical girl bowling is actually kind of funny.

♫♪ – this entire show, so far, is an Excel Saga rip off.

Either way, I think twin-tails in the hospital is too something.
