Rocks fall, everybody dies.

Impressions:

A great episode for the first 18 minutes. Then the generic drama kicked in a little sooner and a little longer than usual and it didn’t really end particularly strongly. Still, the vast majority of this episode was pure undirected comedy. Most of the first half was the girls all trying to tell or describe sad stories. Sakurano went the Key route, Minatsu described Kamina’s death, I’m sure I should have recognized Mafuyu’s "sick girl in the hospital" bit as something specific, but the only thing coming to mind at the moment is the Galaxy Angel parody with Chitose repeatedly faking her death. Chizuru’s took the cake though. The original story was too sad (Chizuru happily trotting off to a date with someone else when Ken tried to ask her out), so she changed it and gave it a happy ending, where Ken lost all his memories. That was too sad too, so for a REALLY happy ending, she had Ken die without learning that the love of his life was an evil demon. Sadly, Ken didn’t get to tell his own sad story, unless you count all of the girls ‘dying’ in his arms at the end of that bit.

The second half was kind of a rehash of sorting stuff from the first episode. There were a few jokes about finding random things… like panties, but Ken pulled it through with some exceptionally strange monologuing. Nothing about his harem or anything, just strange rambling in the background that drew everybody in. Like I said though, it was capped off with some obviously shoehorned-in drama from out of absolutely nowhere about the council being fun. Again. It was slightly different from normal in that the girls were all really appreciative to Ken for everything he does, but nothing particularly new or interesting. The art this week was especially dodgy too, as long as we’re putting all our cards on the table.
