C74 — Magical Battle Arena – Fate, Sakura, and Sarara Demonstration

Ha. I had been wondering what The Mirror was going to do for Sakura. Apparently you get about 30 seconds as whoever you’re targeting. Silliness. Everybody else is unlockable (Ruru, Nowel) or downloadable (Lina, Naga, and Kukkuri). Sarara’s nowhere near as good as I was expecting her to be. She plays like a very very fat and slow Nanoha that covers up the entire area that you’d like to be able to see. Her Melee-Special is a little weird too. It forms the little options around her, and then you tap it again to fire them off one at a time. Fate’s not bad, but I think that the jacket change as one of her specials makes it a wasted slot. Sakura’s a pretty nice character. Pretty similar to Kirara, only with the ability to morph into other people, so at least you can be on even footing with them at any give time. Create could use some help though. It completely whiffed two out of the three times I used it. Her basic projectile yell is also irritating as all hell.

And the story mode where you fight Gadget Drones makes me laugh. They have severely beefed up the one on one AI too. These little girls can be vicious little tramps. I was highly HIGHLY amused during the Kirara/Sarara teamup battle against Nanoha/Fate in Kirara’s path though. I was exchanging shots with Nanoha, when suddenly a giant energy blast arced out of the sky and blasted her straight down into the ocean That kind of amusement doesn’t have a pricetag.

    Lina and Naga are up on Fly-System’s main site. I don’t think they’re done with Kukkuri yet. Ruru and Noyel are both original characters.

    I was so disappointed when I found out Noyel was an unlockable character. I was just screaming ‘NOOOOOO’ like crazy. Oh well. Now there’s an excuse to complete Story Mode. :D

    And forgot to add this: for anyone who can’t figure out where to download the extra characters, they’re part of the version 1.01 patch. And you can open the lzh file with 7-zip or similar. Good luck.

    same here, anyone know how to fix that, copied over all the data and crap, but it crashes on start (error).
    Is the data folder thats the problem, i know that much, since only when thats changed I get error, any solutions?

    Just a slightly different problem to the ones above…
    For some reason, when I try to go past the OP, the game just hangs. The patch hasn’t fixed this either.
    I’m just wondering if this is just me or whether anyone else has had the same problem and have fixed it already.

    No problems playing over here. For those who can play, any none cheesy way of completing the game? Specifically the 5 v 1 and the last stage?

    Cheesed through with Nanoha and her starlight breaker, unlocked drill head.

    I had no problems at all with the patch… so… I’m not help I guess.

    Unfortunately, the only decent way I’ve found to beat the “8 billion vs you” stages is to circle around them constantly and fire off whatever. Some characters (Kirara) can rush in, do their melee special since it hits nearby characters, but that’s tempting fate. If you can keep them all grouped up, they’ll also shoot each other, which helps too.

    Noyel can be an issue because her laser interrupts Supers, so I just target her when she comes out and ignore the drones. They tend to stay in the center anyway. She also tends to hold back on the high artillery if there are allies around.

    Ruru’s last stage is… an adventure though. Every character vs their clones plus Noyel at the end…who is in permanent hyper mode and will spam her wide area super. She appeared, killed everybody else on the field except for me (thank you friendly fire!) and then we just played cat and mouse until she bit it since she would recover instantly from knockdowns and usually just start chanting her super yet again.

    For the 5 vs 1 part…using Nanoha i flew away…that seemed to glitch the ai…Nobody moved at all, making it simple.

    Vs Noyel, I just starlight breaker as often as possible, ending with Fate+Me vs her. Then just stay away and starlight breaker through.

    BTW how to unlock Noyel?

    Beat it with Ruru I believe. Or at least, I’ve only beaten it with Kirara, Sakura, and Ruru, and it unlocked after Ruru. You fight an extra huge battle royale after the normal “Drones plus Noyel” on Ruru’s story with Noyel in permanent Overdrive.

    I completed this yesterday with Fate. Man, the 5 vs 1 battle on Stage 5 was a nightmare. The last 2 battles were easier (drones are stupid). I didn’t experience any problem with the patch. I just overwrote the files with the contents of the LZH and it worked fine.
    Anyways, this was much fun but I don’t think it helds a lot of re-playing value.

    Can you tell us what did you do with the patch?

    So I downloaded 1.00, then the 1.01 patch, then I copied everything from patch 1.01 folder over. Did I do that wrong?

    Noyel’s storyline features an alternate version of the battle royale, where you play as Noyel and fight against the five of them… Except, without the clones. So it’s basically 5 against 1, with full-powered enemies, unlike the sub-powered clones.

    You don’t even get the benefit of using your super since someone keeps breaking it. It’s hard to tell who, though, when you have five enemies spamming attacks against you.

    Right. Just a little bit of help for whoever happens to have trouble with Noyel’s last (?) mission.

    Two things: First, you only need to defeat Ruru, not the rest.

    Second, you can in fact cast Noyel’s super, Dimension Breaker, which practically fills up the whole field. It’s just very, very hard to buy yourself enough time to cast it.

    And after I won, the game hung. It’s still on the load screen playing the victory tune, as it has been for over ten minutes. Hooray.

    Make sure you got the full version, not the preview one. Full version of 1.00 have story mode also and bunch of other character.

    mind to tell me how to perform fate’s sonic move and others as well?
    its hard without instant movement to ambush the enemy from behind…
    i just keep starlight breaker all the way using nanoha in the end but couldn’t perform in close range battles.

    Well, I haven’t used Fate yet, but for all the special moves, they’re activated using SA, SZ, and SX (SX being a charged but better shield). It might also be CC (super quick dash, and C+directional key is just a quick dash), and Fate’s dash might be quicker than most characters’. And, for quick reference, I’ll also add that you can do SC to go into SC Mode (as me and my friends like to call it) and do either CSA or CSZ, the latter only when you are on your last health bar (and, in Nanoha’s case, be higher than 1/4 of the health bar, or you’ll kill yourself).

    Anyone got solutions for the patch crashing problem at start with an error box. Is something with the data folder since it started crashing once I copied over that. For those who got it working can you please tell me what you did with the 1.00 and 1.01 patch? I’m doing something wrong o-O

    Interesting, I actually found Sakura really weak in story mode. Usually I employ a spam and run kind of tactic, so I use characters like Nanoha much better… Anyways, I think Noyel is unlockable through beating the story mode with Ruru , but every time I get to stage 6 my game shuts down somewhere in the middle of that battle due to some error. Rather annoying… Is anyone else getting a similar problem?

    And also, does anyone know what Fate’s 3rd special attack actually does? I’d assume it has something to do with melee/range specialization, but didn’t really notice anthing when testing it.

    Sakura does have some issues one on one because she doesn’t disappear/teleport during Fight, so just takes hits, and she doesn’t have a good area attack. Firey’s range and seeking abilities are absolutely massive though and Fight is a great punisher. Her melee combo is also the best in the game, and in Overdrive, goes for I think 14 hits.

    Fate’s Sonic form makes her faster all around, lowers her defense a little bit, and adds a couple hits to her melee combo.

    ok after patching and witht he game config , i have 9 playable characters, and thats without unlocking anything. anyhting im missing?

    trying out sakura coz she’s the most familiar to me [i didnt watch strikers or slayers] and she seems melee based, got owned in the last fight tho.. five cardcaptors all at one go. it was.. brutal

    oh and another questiong. lets say you get knocked down and are lying there on the flow? any faster way to recover, i seem to lie for eternity while everyone beamspams me..

    1st. You have everyone, don’t worry.
    2nd. Hate to admit it, but that wasn’t the last fight. After you win that one, you have to fight Lulu, and then Nowel.
    3. My friend has said that there is a specific button to recover faster, depending on the what you were attacked with. I’ve had a hard time proving this, though.

    Personally, to recover faster i use both the directionals and C buttons plus you’ll recover more easily if you don’t hit the ground or walls.

    Nowel is very, very strong.
    I’m used to cast the dark light sphere just before activating her Dimension Breaker then aiming those to the opponent so he’ll have trouble fleeing her ultimate attack.

    I thought this game was free since the creators don’t own the copyrights to nanoha. It’s a doujin game after all meaning it’smade by fans.

    Or maybe scroll up and get that gameconfig Aroduc linked. Just replace the file in the Data folder in the game’s program folder.

    @Nakoruru: These games are pretty close to free, at 10$. Even if the creators of this game didn’t own the copyrights, and they are fans, they dedicated themselves to make this game. And there are many other doujin game selling at that same price, made with the same effort. I seriously would like to pay for these games, but with my current situation (no money, on the other side of the planet), I really can’t. And that’s just sad.

    what i did was download 1.00 then it opened automatically with rar and i clicked installed.exe then i opened the game loading press any key it opened only with insert or enter then go through the op and then i selct the option with the up and down arrows but i can’t get in! anyone else this problem? anyone know how to fix it?
    and i can’t find the patch 1.01
    was it wrong they way i installed the game?
    help someone i really want to play it!

    UM…. Hello…. I want to ask help from anyone that can help me…. When I finished installing the MBA game and change all the folder with patch ver. 1.01+, I still could not play the game… I always ended up getting the same error.. About direct 3D error… I’m sorry for asking… But I’m really urge to play this game…

    To patch the game, you install 1.00. Then go unzip 1.03+, then open the patch’s data file, Highlight everything inside the file, and open the 1.00’s Data file within your Program files. Drag over the files from 1.03+, and say yes to all. THEN go back to patch 1.03 and take the MBA.Exe (the icon) and copy it into the 1.00 MBA folder. Keep on doing this, and when configs are present, copy them over as well. For the LYRICAL PACK, you have to install it just like 1.00, but for the newest patch (1.52) do it the same way as I said before.

    With each patch, the secret goes like this:

    First, start with opening the archive, then the folder inside.
    Then, select everything inside the folder and drag it into the Magical Battle Arena folder. Not the Data folder. Remember, you’re patching the whole game doing this.

    Vista users must follow some UAC prompts if UAC is on, and may need to elevate all involved programs.

    As for Hayate, I hear she’s in version 1.50 onwards. That requires you have a way to install Lyrical Pack. Fortunately, someone has kindly uploaded their 1.53+ game, but you’d have to click the name here to get it.
