Ahh! My Goddess: Fighting Wings #01 — One Winged Angel

December 9th, 2007

I blame Lenneth for my crush on Norse Goddesses.

Impressions:

Continuing the seemingly never-ending Ahh! My Goddess adaptation, this special brings the introduction of Lind, the valkyrie that has an angel with only one wing and her hunt for the mysterious Angel Eater. I have to admit that I quickly grew bored with the languid pace and the low production values of the second series of A!MG and never got around to finishing it, but I am familiar with at least this portion of the story, so I figured that I’d give it a whirl. For fans of the series, it should be pretty enjoyable. Production values are certainly better than the second TV series, but still not impressive, and especially compared to other ‘specials’ or OVAs, lag badly.

Still, it’s not disgracing the A!MG line. If you haven’t already been following A!MG, you’ll probably want to go ahead and just pass over this one as well. Even if, like me, you gave up partway through the second season though, there’s enough interest and wit to make this one a decent watch if you’ve got nothing better to do on a Sunday afternoon. It’s very much focused almost completely on new goddes, Lind, so it at least feels fresh, and I got a few chuckles out of Skuld and Keiichi’s fake angels to trick the Eater, but that’s really about it.

Pfft. I own the (now $150) PSX version. I’ve played through VP more times than I can count. Definitely one of my favorite games of all time.

  • Tokki says:

Is it me or does Keiichi look different?
