C79: World of TWAIN and QUALIA3 PVs

December 28th, 2010

AQLoop announced their RPG based on the characters of their SHMUP TWilight refrAIN a long time ago, but finally put out a PV showing off its engine… which is apparently some kind of neo-DS box destroying pseudo-base defense thing apparently. Your guess is as good as mine. They’re putting out a trial in a couple days, so I guess we’ll find out then. Shindenken will also be putting out QUALIA 3 (aka QLIONE on the PSN in the states) which looks… pretty much the same as the last two. Exciting!

C79: Touhou Sky Arena Trial PV, Scarlet Symphony II Updated Trial/PV

December 25th, 2010

I was really hoping Area-Zero would improve on MBA’s engine a little more than this. A lot more than this actually. Maybe I’m just not seeing some subtle differences, but to me, it looks like they just added some blur/after-image effects and slapped in a few new models. Nothing else of major note except random screenshots being posted for the past couple days unless you count Souvenir Circ uploading the world’s biggest waste of a PV ever or AQLoop showing that they have absolutely no idea how breasts work. Edit: Of course, one hour later, Aja has to post a ton of sort-of-new SSII stuff. Curse you, Aja!

C79: Youkengeki Musou PV and Vanguard Princess Gets Jigglier

December 23rd, 2010

I don’t even want to try to translate the title. It’s a cross between a pun on Youmu’s name and something like "sword dream." Anyway, it’s a rather lush action platformer… thing… that’s going to be getting its .20 trial release at Comiket. There are a ton more screenshots and character models on their site too. Meanwhile elsewhere (and to not transparently pad out this post at all, nope nope), Vanguard Princess’s upcoming next big update will be adding animated cut-ins for every character. Boing~~~

C79: Suika vs Mecha Suika Trial, Dash! Sakuya-san Instructional PV

December 20th, 2010

Daisessan has put up a trial for the game experience that can only be described by its title, Suika Versus Mecha Suika. Trust me, controlling each of a giant mechanical loli’s limbs independantly is easier said than done. …Uh, I think. It’s like driving a cow on rollerskates on ice at any rate. There’s also a new PV describing the mechanics behind Dash! Sakuya-san. It looks like they actually put some thought into the time stop mechanics too. Finally, I’m not sure if this is the best or worst doujin game ever made. It’s so amazing, that it doesn’t even have a title yet.

C79: Chaotic Eclipse, Rangofu 2, Hayabusa, Summer Heat PVs

December 19th, 2010

Doujin news wrapup from the past few days! Reddish Region’s posted a PV for their new expansion for Hinokakera, Chaotic Eclipse. The ever so descriptively titled Touhou SRPG Rangofu 2 has a PV as well. After the cut are included new, but not all that exciting PVs for the previously mentioned expansion for Sapheiros, Lingering Summer Heat, as well as an updated Hayabusa PV.

Dash! Sakuya-san and More!? Mysterious Gensokyo PVs

December 13th, 2010

Yet another expansion for Aquastyle‘s roguelike. I really wish they’d drop the whole game thing and just keep on with the awesome fight animations, or even go back to making their awesome SRW animated shorts. There’s a PV of Marisa and Sanae teaching you about the game too, but compared to Reimu kicking tail, that’s dildos. Also comes Dash! Sakuya-san, a brutal looking action game from Y3, who have been around, but have yet to make anything greater than 8 bit or based or not mah-jong. I like a good challenge… and knifing things. All in all, it’s looking like a pretty good Comiket so far. I’ll try to keep on top of news as PVs and announcements get made in the weeks leading up to it, but feel free to drop me a line if I miss anything.

Touhou Sky Arena Announced

December 9th, 2010

Okay, so maybe this announcement is a month late, but they only actually put up the site… uh… a week ago. Shut up! *ahem* From the makers of Magical Battle Arena comes the oh so creatively titled Touhou Sky Arena, built on a refined version of the same engine but with at least half a dozen more bars and gauges. It’s like Reimu really is a jet now. Or something… Only Reimu and Marisa are confirmed so far, but it’s a safe bet that most of the cast from Touhou Sky Fight will be returning. The trial will be on sale at Winter Comiket this year.
