Extraneous topless Takano scene!

Impressions:

The Plan comes together and faced with actual opposition, Takano and her squad show all the initiative and creativity in dealing with it that a chicken with its head cut off would. At least this is probably the first time in the entire series that the police did anything useful at all. They even managed to find the mole in their midst. Good work, cops. It’s not the most exciting thing to watch episodes like this where the good guys set a plan… and then everything goes exactly as expected for the entire time, but hopefully that’ll make things all the more exciting next week when the festival day hits and everything goes up in flames. Granted, it’ll be a more controlled flame than usual, but when you’ve got a crazy nurse attempting to unleash a homicidal plague by killing a little girl via a small army, you can still get a pretty good blaze going no matter what anybody tries to do.

At the clinic, Takano talks to Tanaka Rie Satan Woman. Both talk about their plans in vague terms while Takano toys with a vial in her hands. She eventually hangs up and calls a hotel to ask for Tomitake. He’s still out though. She gets up, annoyed, and idly thinks that she has to kill him.

Elsewhere, Akasaka and Irie talk about the Yamainu. Tomorrow, the festival begins and they’ll almost certainly make their move.

Later, Irie and Takano bump into each other outside the shrine. Both are surprised to see the other, but Irie excuses himself and walks past her.

Takano asks him darkly if he knows where Tomitake has gotten off to. He tells her that he doesn’t know, but says that the festival tomorrow will be fun. Takano agrees with a strange look.

Ooishi walks in on the kiddos. They ask him if the plan is going okay and he confirms as much. Everybody is happy, especially Hanyuu.

Rika is still in a fairly dark mood, but it’s an optimistic dark mood for once. They talk vaguely about the timing of the plan continuing just fine. Keiichi even gets in a line about ‘burning up.’ Rika thinks that this may really lead to their victory after all.

Takano wakes up (apparently she sleeps topless) and answers the phone. She gasps in surprise.

At Yamainu central, they’re all in a minor panic. Takano storms in and demands to know the situation. Okonogi tells her that the police are reporting that Rika died 48 hours ago of an unexplained sickness.

Takano says that’s impossible, especially since Rika’s reported illness was so minor. She goes on, saying that if Rika was dead, then the disease would have gone nuts at this point. Okonogi tries to talk her down, but Takano refuses to believe that Rika is dead. She tries to get other members of the Yamainu to check this out, but they’re useless too and she gets annoyed at everybody. One of them tells her that she has a call from Tokyo.

At the police station, the various officers wait around for their sting to finish. They figure out that the plant is Otaka. With this information, Ooishi calls the coroner, and lets him know the results. After he hangs up, he thinks that things really will be interesting now.

Takano hangs up the phone, pissed off as all hell. She can’t believe that her research could be wrong and declares that she hasn’t lost yet while clutching her arm in a talon grip.

The Yamainu remain in their minor panic. Okonogi realizes that they may be getting fed false information since everything is too conveniently planned. He angrily orders the counter attack to begin.

Tomitake is on the phone with somebody discussing recent interesting information. He realizes that Ooishi probably has something to do with recent events. The man warns Tomitake to be careful of the Yamainu.

Right on cue, the Yamainu bust down the door into a hotel room… an entirely different one. Tomitake lied to Takano about where he was staying from the start.

Ooishi lights up a cigarette with the other cops. They talk in vague terms about the battle having just started.

The Yamainu leave the hotel and Okonagi orders further actions to be taken to try to flush Tomitake out. It’s not checkmate for them yet.

As they drive elsewhere, he gets a message saying that they have new information.

At the police station, Otaka the traitor walks in. Ooishi stands in his way and prevents him from going further. Otaka quickly gets annoyed as Ooishi passively stands in his way. Otaka reaches out to push past Ooishi, but gets his hand grabbed and Ooishi angrily reveals Otaka’s betrayal.

Both start yelling at eachother. Ooishi pushes Otaka down. In response, Otaka orders Ooishi arrested, but nobody moves to do so. He gets up and swings at Ooishi, but gets thrown to the ground.

Otaka gets up and claims that he has the support of the Sonozakis and Ooishi better not cross him. Ooishi sarcastically shakes with fear. Akane walks up behind him and wonders just which Sonozaki he has influence with. Ooishi lets Otaka know that these are Sonozaki Akane and Sonozaki Saburou. Otaka gasps in surprise.

Takano asks Irie about Rika’s illness and what happened to her at Irie’s last visit. He’s noncommital and tells her that it’s just one of those things that can happen to kids. Takano angrily slams her hand down and storms out.

She picks up the phones and talks to Tanaka Rie Satan Woman. She ridicules Takano for letting things fall apart and wonders what would happen to the reputation of Dr Takano and Takano herself if everything were to collapse.

Okonagi receives a report that the Yamainu have finally found Tomitake. They rush off to intercept him. Takano overhears the reports as she paces around the control center. Finally they’ve caught the traitor. With a start, she thinks that Tomitake may not be the only one that betrayed them. She immediately orders the Yamainu to take in Irie. They look surprised, but she tells them that it’s an absolute order.

After the ED, the Yamainu arrive at a hotel. Tomitake hears the vans pull up and escapes out the window. They still manage to corner him and the two sides rush each other.
