Comiket 75 — Magical Battle Arena Lyrical Expansion
December 30th, 2008
Well, I’m tremendously disappointed that the triple Nanoha/Hayate/Fate tech is just Hayate’s desperation Super, but eh… what can you do? I’ve only had a chance to barely muss around a little bit, but I’m heading out for dinner shortly, so I probably won’t get a chance to do much of anything with this for the rest of the night. They’re all pretty predictable though. Hayate is slow as snot with wide area attacks and mainly supported by her freezing/horribly animated stunning shots.
Vita’s got some surprisingly quick and nasty projectiles. They don’t do a ton of damage, but they’re lightning fast compared to most of the other specials. She also recharges almost immediately. Her Supers are really really lame though. Her normal one (huge Graf Eisen) is painfully slow and I’m sure extremely easy to knock her out of. Her Desperation (just the same as her melee special, with her hat falling off) is also one of those lame melee only attacks.
Nanoha’s adult form is… pretty much the same as the young version. She doesn’t rush on her charged melee, so that’s a little annoying. Axel Shooter is replaced by a pretty short ranged ACS Driver dash, and her shield special is replaced by a Buster option which then adds extra shots onto her other specials. Up to four (well, #3 adds two more) can be set, but they vanish after about 10 seconds unless you set more. Her desperation Super is a little nastier than many of the others because there’s no projectile before the bind hits. Doesn’t really make up for the lack of the uber-Axel Shooter, but the ACS Drive does give her a little more balance.
Like I said, I’m on my way out the door, so I haven’t really had a chance to mess around with the new modes or look for any hidden characters or whatnot, so I may or may not have more to say in a few days.

Those guys are really working hard on this. For a doujin group it’s quite impressive.
