Casshern SINS #12 — Margo!
December 18th, 2008
Polo!
Impressions:
Yeah, they really threw me for a loop this time. Instead of a crazy woman obsessively doing something to show hope or acceptance of the world, it was a guy who just looked like a woman. Whoa. Such a drastic change in route presentation that I almost got a head rush.
Our damsel in distress for the week was Margo, a man who was probably both in and part of a wheelchair. I’m pretty sure that as far as fetish poker goes, that’s at least a straight flush. He still had hope for the future and didn’t want the city to be forgotten, so was painting over it in magical paint. You can’t be giving people hope though, so the Romanian Burgher Robot and his gang of thugs came to beat him up, resulting in the predicted damage to his special painting area as Casshern killed them all, leaving some poor baby robot completely guardianless. Then Margo succumbed to the destruction and asked to be painted himself because he was afraid of being forgotten.
In short, yawn. Seen it before, and I’m pretty sure we’ll see it again. Kudos for using a male as the damsel of the week though. Now Casshern’s harem spans the gender barrier as well… at least so far as robots have a gender at any rate. There were some definitely off moments with the art this week. I’m not sure if the artists kicked off early for the end of the year or what, but they had some severe difficulties with faces from a distance. They also sort of played around with showing how Casshern both goes berserk and regenerates, but I don’t think either one worked out. He started convulsing violently before breaking heads, and then went into some kind of screaming rage when he regenerated the silly little Burgher cane stab. If they had switched the direction for both those moments, it probably would have improved those scenes greatly.

Margo’s voice actor sounded awfully familiar but I just couldn’t think who it was. Another Casshern Sins episode X – Mysterious person with touching past. At least Dio-centric episodes tend to have more action, I’m looking forward to episode 13. But oh god why is Ringo there.
Notice how she called a dead person beutiful with such a bright smile.
