Noragami #03 — Master Hand
January 19th, 2014
Â
What a waste of a sweater.
Despite being on opposite ends of my hu-man dormancy period (and the blaring OP in one case), I nodded off during both Space Dandy and NobunaGun, which is a little damning. At least the former seems to have finally (and likely temporarily) gotten its ducks in a row with the animation, although they then used it to have a mecha punch-up with a fifty foot monster made of sickly breasts.  The humor, however, seems to have unfortunately devolved to just yelling out “Boobies!” constantly and eating bad food.
Impressions:
You’d think after introducing a new character at the end of last week, the episode would be primarily centered around him, or at least have the monster/case of the week teach us something about him. Alas, that would require him to have a personality and the character sheet for him got as far as “sullen” before someone spilled coffee on it and blotted everything else out. They had already allotted nearly half the episode to him though so full speed ahead!
I guess that left the other half to be about a more popular god and that makes Yato jealous yell! Then they fought a giant hand who was leading blobs to make people splatter themselves on trains. And yet for all the bouncing around, nothing of any weight actually happened. The animation also took another hit there too this week, particularly when Hiyori was pushed onto the tracks, which for the lack of animation and poor direction made look like a gag scene. Perhaps she shouldn’t have been comically splayed and hanging in the air while making a silly face if that was supposed to be transitioning into a ‘fight’ against an evil hand.
Next Episode:
Pink hair.

Laughed a lot when dagger girl and god wannabe started bickering. I also liked the explanation about how they are not invisible but rather hard to notice, well thought.
