Unconfirmed & In-Progress #01 — Girls in Tight Sweaters
January 8th, 2014
Â
And oral fetishes too.
There are a brain-melting 5 shows premiering tomorrow (plus KLK returns), all of them airing after I go to work, and tomorrow is January Cake Day too, so it may take me a while to get through them all.
Impressions:
In a drastic change of pace, the character who must internally narrate everything going on in their heads in this show doesn’t have a penis. …Wait. That’s not different at all. They have a slightly higher pitched voice at any rate. Maybe it’s to make up for the character who speaks like someone shoved an entire Gundam up her nose. A lot of this kind of reminds me of Place to Place with different character dynamics and being a hell of a lot less cute and expressive. It does a good job staying centered on the characters and besides the nasally whine and internal asides, doesn’t do anything to really alienate from any of them. Not what I’d call a plus, but this season has been having issues with that.
The problem though is that there’s just not much going on. It’s neither funny nor character-driven enough to sell itself on either. Some of the comedy is okay, mostly the teasing. Some of the visual direction and animation is all rightish when they’re not just putting up awful powerpoint flower backgrounds. Some of the character interactions are decent enough and the decision to make the male lead basically a good-natured log was probably a smart one. The internal narration nonsense while present, is kept at a somewhat reasonable level. Despite the functionally all-female cast, it steers away from trashy T&A (besides the orally fetishistic ED at least), unless your kink is moderately well-endowed girls in tight sweaters, in which case Christmas has come early .
And yet, as I look at the list of other Wednesday shows (Ghost Watch, 14 Sick, and next week adds Maken-ki and Inari), I can’t help but feel that this has somehow already achieved at least second place. Hoo-bloody-ray.
Next Episode:
Loud nasally noises!

It’s a 4-koma adaptation… so don’t expect a plot or anything.
