High School DxD #02 — Sharpest Nipples Award: Female Category

January 12th, 2012

Unfortunately, it’s not strong enough to take the mixed competition.

Impressions:

I think the best part of this overall week for the show may have come days ago when Mediafactory uploaded a "Loli-loli Promo" to their Youtube channel. It still managed to contain 99% too much annoying rambling, but at least it had about as much eyecandy as the entirety of episode one. Their definition of "loli-loli" also seems rather… open-ended.

I mention it here because that promo only lasted a couple minutes and yet provided more amusement than I think this entire, exposition-laden heap. Sure, he’s getting his magical power a full 10 episodes or so before Maken-ki’s protagonist did, but Issei’s not getting any less irritating. Nor is the animation or art getting any better either. The ‘fight’ against the angel this week consisted of it appearing, him letting the audience know that it was an angel, her letting the audience know he was a devil, then it attacked once, he attacked once (blowing her clothes off) and she immediately ran away. Thrilling. If not for Milky Holmes, it’d at least be winning the award for the pointiest nipples of the season, but alas, even that’s out of its grasp.

Preview:

At least it aired before 30 Rock to let me appreciate the better show more.

no mysterious rays of light coming from the ground, this is actually worth watching

I take it you’ve given up the battle of censoring stuff? It is a losing battle in terms of effort and creepy fanbase reactions, if that’s any consolation.

Those girls pole-dance better than most actual dancers I know. I have to give the animators kudos for the ED; they don’t leave much to the imagination….

  • […] Special Honorable Mention for Best Pole Dance in an ED goes to High School DxD. I mean seriously, damn. The animators went all out on that even if the rest of the animation was… mediocre. I would love to have seen the research and modeling that went into making it work. Check it out over at Arodouc’s […]

Nah it’s about right. All pre and teenage girls are lolis, even the ones with ‘nice body’. Anime and manga ability of conditioning their viewers of what a loli is priaseworthy and disgusting indeed. Hail toyko ban.
