The Mystic Archives of Flamberge #06 — Protagonists? What Protagonists?

August 19th, 2011

How exactly does Flamberge eat?

Continuing this show’s odd numbering, which I’ve given up trying to understand, this was "Extra Episode #01."

Impressions:

And now, because there has clearly been too much focus and development for the two protagonists (ha!), it’s time to completely abandon them to show the adventures of some other random pair fighting some woman trying to recreate a city that was leveled to the ground with puppets for the sake of some girl spurred on by some third pair of magical girl and generic male combo. At this point, this pair even has a long-term antagonist while Hugh and Dalian are probably off on the case of "The Book That Makes Too Much Tea."

Don’t get me wrong, at this point, I think I like Hal and Flam more than the actual main characters, but they’re practically clones only with the pissiness levels dialed up a little more and some actual fighting skills. The main differences are that Flamberge has a white hair, and Hal has a giant hat. Okay, and Flam also sounds like a guy and isn’t useless in a fight. Instead of reading at them, Hal also just sticks the book into his staff, which turns it into some kind of flamethrower. Why can’t Hugh pick up that trick?

it was interesting, but the show sure has weird pacing.

I got a good laugh out of that book powered staff gun.
I really wouldn’t mind if this whole show were actually about these two.

I literaly like this epiosde but I like Huey and Dalian Better. Hal is my fav type of guy ( cold and quite and strong) but in my POV he’s not as cute as huey and Gentle as Huey too.

Huey is cool because he have to personalities. the personlities of gentlemen, polite, respect one of another, kind when he’s calm or normal/ happpy but when he’s serious he will show his awesome side which he can used gun and good at aiming.

if i have to choose between Dalian and Flamberg i choose Dalian more because she’s the exactly image(hair color, style, clothes style) of my OC. Although i kinda annoyed and dissapointed when dalian loses her calm and cold side but i don’t mind she’s a tsundere after all and her role is to make the stories more fun. I like Flamberg long pony tail style but her personlity not really my type ( loud spoken, sharp tongue, talk a lot, etc) although i have to admit she’s prettier than Dalian.

I found a dissapointment in this epiosde. Like the flashback of Mabel where she meet the red yomihime, I imagine Rasiel ( the red yomihime) was more of mature, calm, stoic, serious and not annoying or critic people (like Dalian) and talk a lot or loud spoken ( likeFlamberg) more of soft and patient and the voice are not kids or sound like one more mature… Well according to the picture i found before we see Flamberg and Rasiel in this epiosde.

They all look the same if they wear the same dresses though. Other than their hairstyles and hair colors, of course.

I myself, like both Dalian and Flam’s personalities though. I like this episode much more than episode 5 (I mean, what the **** was with the Power Rangersque thing), but that’s to be expected when you have different scenario writers for each episode.

“Cartridge load!”, now where have I heard that before?
