Yes, let us press any key. This one is pretty much exactly as expected, though a little heavier on the system resources than I’d have liked. My laptop grinds this one along as a stellar 30 FPS. The desktop handles it alright though. Anyway, you run along and ‘compete’ with the idiot AI, collecting gems, bouncing off of crap (and the AI) and occasionally throw giant fish at eachother. It’s nothing complex and your AI running buddy is simply terrible, so like many of EGS’ games, it’s probably best enjoyed with a friend. There are a wide variety of items to use against eachother, but mostly just variations on Mario Kart items. The hazards can get a little… dumb at times. I had no idea I had stepped on an oil patch until I was careening out of control into a wall. It looked like just another shadow to me. Not that bad from what I’ve played, but nowhere as nicely done as Recettear or Gunner’s Heart.

This game is really fun in netplay. Sadly there are many obvious bugs and the netplay matches easily desynch (without any warning except the strange behaviour of your opponent). Well, there were also quite a bit of bugs in Recettear’s trial (like saves becoming unusable if you have more than 99 items of one type) that were fixed in the complete version or latter patched by EGS, so we shouldn’t think too much of it.
