Impressions:

The end of the episode sure was an escalation. Second time this week that a random horde pops up like a literal random encounter in an RPG, with all the grace and dignity of a horde in a musou game… or I guess something like Oneechanbara or Lollipop Chainsaw would be more appropriate. And it's all gags and jokes, and then someone has to have an arm chopped off out of nowhere. Which… was kind of the only thing noteworthy in the episode, to be honest. The rest is empty space and the one joke about the girl going pyromaniac when given a flamethrower.

The juxtaposition still isn't working that well for me, and I think it's because the humor side is too puerile. Things like Sean of the Dead, or even Buffy or Supernatural, have dark humor at their core, so they transition more naturally when it's time for something serious to happen. Characters and the situations are already a little more mature, not a cackling child waving a flamethrower around… the one joke of the episode they saw fit to repeat three times, or being baffled by the concept of bunker doors. They're too reckless and stupid for consequences to have weight.
