Rayearth #02 — Statement of Purpose and Intent

Do we understand what pacing is? At all?
Impressions:
Boy, we're really starting out the second episode strong, with a recap lasting a minute and a half. To be followed by the antagonist showing up, declaring that she's the antagonist, that her goal is to do evil and be the antagonist, summoning a dog, and then pissing off. Which is then followed by Exposition Guy recapping all this, so that the trio can also then recap it. That's the first third of the episode. But hey, finally the antagonist attacks. Once. So the protagonists have to announce that they're being attacked. And debate whether or not they should do something about that. Finally, one announces that it's time to level up. No, really. Verbatim. Level up. Does one magic girl attack, and the battle is won. The two episode battle. That required five minutes of recap, multiple announcements of purpose and intent, and constant discussion over whether or not anybody should do anything. It consisted of two attacks.
Budget and excitement quota exhausted, it's time to get captured and… you guessed it, patiently listen to more exposition while doing chibi manzai in the background. I don't care how many pages of the original this adaption may be covering. If this was the pace that it moved at, then the pacing was nonexistant and garbage to start, and two out of three of the ostensible main characters have yet to lift a finger or do anything in any way whatsoever after two episode. The other only got up the gumption to do one thing, once, under duress at that. Fix yourself, show. Or don't, because my patience has pretty much run out.
