Tot Ziens, Lara #03 — Hitting Girls

Boxing is popular in this city, huh?

Impressions:

Weakest of the three episodes so far, and more like what I expected this show to be originally. I wonder how long they're going to beat around the bush of who her fated magical love 'prince' is, because it seems like the answer is probably the entire run. Also, why does this boxing club have like forty people in it? Every shot of the city is some rural coastal thing. They're constantly jogging or walking on dirt roads without a building in sight. And yet, the school's mixed gender boxing club has enough people for two football teams. Also, also, if you have PTSD from crowd noise, I don't think spectator sports are for you. Also, also, also, if someone drops a metal hammer and makes a bell-like noise, I'm 90% certain that's a match DQ right there.

Which was also dumb because for all her internal narrating whining about how put upon she is, she was completely dominating that match. She just needed some spontaneously PTSD out of absolutely nowhere to start losing. And then everyone immediately kissed and made up because apparently they're all super friends anyway? Yeah, Mari. Your little arc here was not good. It was acting like she was being picked on by the mean girls, then she turned around and apologized for being a jerk. So I guess she was being an ass just off-screen? And then there's the random obelisk from the sea, which would have been the most interesting part, if not for the maybe-antagonists from last week looking at it, dispelling all doubt, and declaring Lara to be the god child who will save them all via finding her true love. Take some destiny into your own hands, you defeatists.
