The Oni’s Bride #01 — Oops, All Child Abuse
July 4th, 2026
Sure you didn't want to threaten to sexually abuse her too? Only thing that was missing.
Impressions:
As if the long infodump at the start about how demons saved Japan and now all citizenry owes a debt to be their slave brides wasn't bad enough, the rest of the episode is spent abusing the hell out of the girl. Her boyfriend dumps her for her sister. Her father beats her. Her sister steals her clothing and it gets torn up when they fight over it, so the sister's other boyfriend appears out of nowhere to literally torch her arm and chase her out of her home. But don't worry, the 'evil' oni boy is waiting there on the bridge to heal her and declare her to be his true (slave) wife.
So this one's contribution to the villainess thing is to not be reincarnated, but to really up the abuse, both emotional and physical. And to make the whole slave wife thing extra codified. I don't think that's what those were missing. Still poorly produced. Still a main character with as much presence and charisma as a doormat, which makes her as compelling as one. And the savior dude didn't even show up until the last minute of the episode to boot, so even if he has all the personality in the world to make up for her of any (and he doesn't), it wouldn't be coming until next week.
