This episode made me mad.

Impressions:

I kind of despise this episode, enough that it drove me to post this instead of casting the show into the memory hole entirely. At least it made me feel something. It's centered on a new character who's essentially a rehash of the dude. She was conventionally unattractive, bullied, but then changed herself and now is beloved by all. Except this time, it's entirely just "she put on makeup" and they simply leave it at that. She was miserable, until she changed how she looked, and that fixed her and her entire life. Isn't that great?

If that was the halfway point to this, fine. You'd even think with the obvious King Kong reference that Kuroe would see herself in her and be the one to say that no, looks aren't everything. But that's not the lesson here. The moral of the story is stop looking so ugly. That's a choice you're making. Put on some lipstick, uggo. Continue fussing over your appearance. Sad? Why aren't you dressing nicer? Smile more, you loser. At no point does she say that those people were dicks and she's a great person with or without her makeup, nor make any connection to herself. That's left for the audience to impart the complete opposite of what it says and does. Screw that noise.
