Seven Spitballs #12 — Behold the Bureaucracy
September 22nd, 2023
Good god, what happened to this show?
Impressions:
The biggest disappointment of this week with this show was looking up whether it was ending this week or next and finding out it would be stretching on through October with a baffling 15 episode season. And you can really tell from this episode that they need every last episode. First a discussion about how they're not doing anything. Then a discussion about how they could be doing something. Then a re-discussion about how they should be doing something. Then a discussion about whether or not to do something, to be followed by a discussion on if they're going to do something. And if they're going to do something, first we need to discuss how we're going to do it. I can't tell if they're taking cues from Robert's Rules of Order or Persona 5.
Literally nothing happened in this episode. All they accomplished was going right back to where they were when they decided to go take a break. Large parts were spent explaining how the entire plot was on hold and everybody was wringing their hands about maybe they should get it started again, ignoring that there was no actual plot in this entire godawful arc to start with, lest we forget that it began with a talent show for sexually fluid teenagers and choosing your favorite broom. Given that the new season starts next week, I may legitimately just call it quits with this episode. Seriously here. What's the best case for what the story could possibly do? Suddenly give the 5 ignored characters a purpose and bring back the revenge cult plot against some teachers that haven't been seen at all in a month out of nowhere to fight one of them? Please. Not without another four or five scrums, meetings, and meeting recaps.
