What? Is a pirate peg-leg too good for you?

Impressions:

No vault kids this week, or weird sex stuff, thank god. But this is where the inconsistent levels of tech make it a bit hard to tell if we're meant to understand which faction is the insane one here. One seems to be total luddite, anti-technology, even to the level of calling basic prosthetics perversions of nature, which sure seems like they're probably the crazy ones, perhaps even infected by the monsters that are messing with people's heads. But we also already had brain swapping experiments, and that feels like the kind of thing that you probably don't get to without… *ahem* scrambling a few eggs, let's say.

Maybe the uncertainty is supposed to be the point, but it really doesn't feel like it that's what they were going for since it didn't focus on it all that much. They just have the luddites rant about it briefly before abruptly dropping it for the rest of the episode. The basement monsters didn't seem like the results of human experimentation, and the only 'evidence' we've seen is one clearly lunatic's ranting story about probably some kind of iron lung contraption. Maybe that was supposed to be enough to convince the audience that Monstrous Things are happening? But even the basement monsters are just pulsating blobs causing hallucinations. Is this going to be a Man Is the Real Monster sketch?
