…Is a whole season of filler actually something even fans of this wanted?

Impressions:

Apparently the whole thing is going to be expanding the little sidestories that from the source manga that the original skipped, but are things really improved by going back and saying "Hey, you remember the training sequence that we skipped over entirely? Well, during that, they had two fetch quests!" It's two bits taking place around epsiode 7 or 8. For the first, Desha throws a tantrum and wants some mushrooms, so Kage goes off to do odd jobs for a random old lady and gets a pie. For the second, Desha throws a tantrum and wants more money, so they hustle people on the street, then feel bad because someone they hustled was poor, so they help her out.

These are not interesting or funny stories that stand on their own. And is that seriously the pitch for this season? Here's ten episodes of unabashed filler? At least be ambitious. Pull a Ga-Rei Zero, or any of those Tatsunoko revival shows, where you tell your own story with the characters in your own style. Even if you fail, there's at least creativity and effort on display. At worst, you get Piccolo learning to drive.
