Impressions:

The fetishization of various execution methods was weird. This could've been a montage, but instead we had a narrator cut in to explain them and provide a historical factoid or two, and sometimes even an illustration of what it would look like if somebody was actually burned to death or beheaded. Thanks, show. Likewise, somebody shows up and the narrator recites a paragraph of her background and life story. Which is followed by another unneeded recitation of character traits and characteristics. And yet, we skip over how he's invulnerable to all these methods too most of the time. He's immune to swords because he tenses his muscles. And fire because… uh… ninja!

Weirdly, the flashbacks of him meeting his wife were much better handled and paced, even with my distaste for such things, though it seems a bit weird that he would not want to be reunited with her or try to run away/escape with her. Really seemed like she had been fridged until they said she was just sad at home. Kind of seems like you should have at least been trying to reunite with her and/or run away together, my dude, not moping and traumatizing oxen with your magical invulnerability. Isn't that the whole ninja thing? Trying to escape the village and being hunted down as a renegade? But sure, let's just magical cutaway over his magic powers magically burning a room of people who don't have magical invincibility. That'll establish how much of a badass he is, I guess.
