Nier Automata v1.1a #04 — The Show Must(n’t) Go On
February 18th, 2023
Someone isn't a fan of the opera.
Impressions:
Oh, hey. Look who finally made it back to the world of broadcasts. After the first half, I was also ready to make a sarcastic remark about how they really needed that break to put forth ten straight minutes of people standing around recapping too. Thankfully, the second half of the episode did actually flex the A-1 budget, which is even more striking given how godawful the animation for fight scenes for most other shows have been this season. Let's see if they can stick to it for more than a couple episodes or if like Other World Uncle, they let the plague right back in.
Buuuuuut, aside from oohing and aahing at something being well-animated, I'm about 90% certain that we skipped a whole dungeon or something to go straight to that opera boss that always features prominently in ads and such. I'm also going to have to admit that I can barely make out maybe every third word of the heavily synthesized and corrupted robot gibbering, and I don't really want to hit up a wiki to find out the deep lore of the Kirby-ish dismembering crazy bridal robot trying to inhale everybody and turn their arms and legs into dresses due to its own body dismorphism issues. Or maybe I did understand as much as you're meant to?

Most robots sound just like this in the game. It’s not a bug, it’s a feature.
