Loner Rock! #12 — Stage Dive

December 24th, 2022

So her family just ignored her concussing herself into unconsciousness?

It may take a little to get to Gundam tomorrow morning, for hopefully obvious reasons. Next season preview should be up probably Wednesday. It's finished, besides the editing (and any rewrites to account for the two pre-airs today, which who knows when they'll pop), but… Christmas stuff. Nothing starts for real for another week after that anyway.

Impressions:

Guess we're going with making the whole first half the concert then. If this was a better studio, they certainly would've gone out, but this is CloverWorks, so you get what you get, which in this case means alternating distance shots at 10 FPS and occasionally extra detailed swaying before it all becomes too much for the animators and we switch to shots of empty classrooms. Not one of the high budget sequences, eh, CloverWorks? At least they remembered to fit in some kind of dramatic element and single joke while shilling the CD, even if it was just "oh no, my 10 second solo won't have the reverb it's supposed to."

But it's all over by the halfway mark and time to buy a new guitar. Who needs to bother making a conclusion or ending in any way? It's not like this is an adaptation or anything. Let's abruptly completely drop the thing we've spent the last month building up to for something else entirely in the last ten minutes of the show. Why make an ending when you can just blindly transpose the manga. That's what adaptation is, right? Hell of a way to end the show, with a very half-assed two-song generic JPop concert and then right back to mundanity.
