Chains Aw Man #10 — Sad Boys in Hospitals

December 13th, 2022

Very sad. So many tears.

Impressions:

Apparently the story was moving way too fast. Instead of sticking with the speed, it's time to grind things to a complete stop so we can spend another ten minutes moping about the lady who existed primarily in flashbacks where she was also sad, before entering a whole training arc. Now, sure, Denji and Power are the only two people who didn't kill the sword guy, but even for training bits, we're not actually learning anything here, and as I said with Gundam, just because you're doing setup doesn't mean that it has to be at the exclusion of all else. Take what little momentum you had and build off it.

It's not even good training either. Nor is it apparently over. Going into bullet time and adding extra frames to see every little inch of sleeves and hair billowing doesn't change that in two 'fights,' all the dude did was dodge a single attack, and then instantly knock them out. And then it just swapped who got to attack first and did the exact same thing again. That is when they didn't just spontaneously collapse from the overwhelming pressure of getting to fight something for the very first time in ten episodes. Truly a main character.

I dont have the stomach anymore for anime, if this BS is the best that is airing right now, I may as well dedicate my free time to play retro RPGS instead.
