Virgin Road #02 — Assassin’s Creed
April 8th, 2022
"Make only a token effort, then throw in the towel."
Impressions:
Let's start with the good. The music this week was a lot less obnoxious and weird. It was even fitting in places. There were also zero further incidents of groping. It didn't leap around in time and space to go to strange lunatics making silly faces, so it was theoretically a more cohesive package. But that's it. That's all the good of this episode, which was mostly failing to do the horrible things the first episode did. Unfortunately, it didn't replace them with literally anything at all. The already moderate budget crashed to rock bottom, resulting in an entire episode of talking heads, and with it, any thoughts of pacing went in the crapper.
The really inexplicable thing to me is how easily she gives up trying to kill this girl. She revives from being stabbed once… extremely slowly, and without any idea of what happened, and they're just like "Well, crap. Never seen any kind of regeneration ability before, and the clock sound must be rewinding time, this is hopeless." Have you tried dropping a rock on her? Or tying her to one and throwing it in the ocean? How about a slow acting poison? Spiking the brain? You're really half-assing this assassin thing. "Well, I tried stabbing her once, and it didn't work. I'm all out of ideas." Now let me bring this supposedly dangerous world-threatening person to the middle of the city and wander off while she can play with children. Yeah, uh, okay, writers.

They literally state that the more they use their powers, the more it’ll overwrite the owner and the more that happens the bigger a problem that will be. Guess what constantly trying to kill someone whose powers activates immediately after her death will do?
