Cells at Work #04 — Gas Station Sushi

July 28th, 2018

That is one stupid looking hat.

Impressions:

So are we going to get this exact episode for every single flavor of white blood cell? The only real difference between this week's episode and last week's is that the cell of the week is portrayed as female instead of male, and therefore gets blushy instead of being used for jokes. If she had turned into a steroided-up beefcake, that could've at least passed for a humorous subversion, although then the differences between the two episodes would've been reduced to absolutely nil. It seems like such an easy and obvious thing to just go through various monster movie parodies, and there's no shortage of them. Alas.

What more is there to say? It was the same as last week, except minus the zombie invasion framework and jokey climax/ending. I think I got more amusement from the Morpheus basophil, particularly the platelets staring suspiciously at it hanging around making weird prophetic declarations of the apocalypse. That was maybe three seconds of the episode though. I'll take my amusement where I can get it.
