Virgin Soul #07 — Waffles Waffling
May 19th, 2017
I'm starting to forget a time when this franchise didn't suck.
Impressions:
Are you kidding me? A minute of recap, followed by a flash forward, to presumably about 30 seconds AFTER the cliffhanger that the episode ends on. But also not really, because the ED plays about a minute before that. What the hell is even going on with the writing and direction here? It makes no sense whatsoever. The padding that again consumed the majority of the episode can at least be understood by lazy writers, too scared to show any kind of ambition and/or too lazy to put in any kind of work. I can understand that. Hate it, but understand it.
And that leads into once again, that the 'content' of the episode was nigh nonexistent. Nina no longer spazzes out from Whose-His-Face because she's got a crush on whoever, and the demon attack fails. That's it. That's all that 'happened' this week, and it only even begins about four minutes from the ED sequence. Another sixteen minutes of faffing about; cooking, blushing, Kaisar being constipated about his duty, and Bacchus… also being constipated. Because that's apparently all that anybody in this fiasco can do. Waffle, waffle, waffle. We're going to reach the final episode, and the climax is going to be "Wait, maybe I DO care about slavery and murder after all."

This is what happens when you give a studio too many episodes for what they need to tell.
It’s like it’s trying to be SnK.
