The Saga of Tanya the Tedious #09 — Idiot-Powered Aircraft

March 10th, 2017

Let's read some more reports!

Impressions:

What is there to even say when every episode is just differing amounts of noise with no character development, story progression, or even eye candy to go on? At least Chain Chronicle/Little Witch are horrifying by its character and story beats being awful, and Akiba at least presents a weird topic to not satirize at all each week. All of which are terrible, but yet infinitely more ambitious than doing nothing whatsoever. I'm so done with this season. Bring on the next with all its… sequels and light novel harems. *sigh* At least there's Samurai Jack for a couple months starting this weekend.

Anyway, even for this show, this episode was awful, and contained nearly all of its worst sins. All the stuff about how things are supposedly awful for them and they've got their backs up against the wall are delivered through reports and exposition, and about 95% of the episode is people sitting around tables repeating and rehashing the exact same things as ever. There's nothing about this episode that couldn't have come two months earlier, nor does it indicate any movement towards any kind of finale. Just about twenty minutes of white noise ending with the unconvincing promise that next week, we're totally in for some fireworks. Yeah, right. Maybe one of the characters will struggle in a fight for more than 15 seconds. Wouldn't that be grand?

I kind of fell asleep, and then woke up to Tanya and Fishface being launched in some sort of missiles.

Needless to say, I was a bit lost.
