The Magical Girl Creation Project #02 — Gun-Haver

October 8th, 2016

It's a magical gun though, so it's no more dangerous than a pea shooter.

Impressions:

On one hand, taking the focus firmly away from the bland-as-hell protagonist that dominated the first episode was certainly a good thing. On the other hand, it made precious little progress towards the hook of a bunch of magical girls murdering each other. There was one girl who took a couple half-assed potshots at the others, but that was it. The rest was just a random assortment of magical girls mostly chattering, and the dream one getting a little dream bit before she bowed out. And that seems like a waste because especially if they want to go a more horror direction (because they clearly don't have the budget for action), a Freddy Kruegar antagonist would've been far better than their continued… nothing.

Speaking of which, the only other thing in that direction at all is that when they lost their powers, they 'die'… maybe. Or maybe just don't wake up for a while. It's not actually clear, and my faith in these shows for having lasting consequences is not high. And especially when they're being all coy about things instead of just exploding a head in a bloody ball of jell-o or something.
