Re:Zero #07 — WOE IS ME

My angst is the angstiest angst that ever angsted an angst.
Impressions:
Christ, what a godawful episode. Basically the entire thing was everyone sobbing and/or feeling sorry for themselves, ending with the uplifting message of "Kill yourself, that'll make everything better." Granted, that just resets things, so it's not as godawfully missing the mark as, say, Resonance in Terror's lesson about becoming a terrorist for attention, but when it's stretched out for six goddamned minutes and treated like some kind of amazing triumph of character that this time, he's not going to screw up, to an entire red dwarf's share of lens flare and a forty seven piece orchestra singing praise of his heroism, then it's begging for more than a little eyerolling and sarcasm.
Anyway, the first half was Subaru moping around because everything is just too sad for him. The second half had Blue spontaneously die due to, you know, magic, which meant that Red joined him in constantly having what appeared to be milk leaking out of their eyes. And it's all Subaru's fault! Because of, you know, magic. I might have a little more sympathy for anybody in this idiotic affair if they had done a goddamned thing this episode besides cry, have things explained to them, and have every sin in the world piled onto their back because, you know, magic, but here we are, with an episode where the 'protagonist' spent twenty five minutes being sad until he eventually decided not to. Actual outcome of that not to come until next week. Maybe.

This is a godawful device for slowing the plot progress into oblivion. They pretty much can do this eternally until the author has the next set of the loop ready for rinse and repeat.
Is like a whole series made around Haruhi’s endless 8…
