Dagashikashi #11 — Metal Gear Stupid

March 24th, 2016

Why isn't this over yet? It ran out of jokes 10 episodes ago.

Impressions:

Japan, when a single scene has gone on for nigh on ten minutes, it's time to rethink things. A third of the damn episode is spent with them in a box. Watching. Commenting on the things that we're already seeing. And having flashbacks. Christ, Japan. I may start a goddamned counter next season and see if we can go a week without any show having a flashback. Then the second half began with the 'hilarious' contrived joke that he misunderstood something she was saying in a sexual way, and so stared at her breasts. Rim shot and laugh track. If not for the cutaway historical bit, it would have been ten more minutes of them sitting motionlessly having a chatsie with all the enthusiasm and gusto of a pallbearer. I may very well just post some random tits next week. That's how little interest I have in finishing this show at this point.

3 Shouts From the Peanut Gallery

Interestingly this avoided one of the traps you so often chide these shows for – instead of straight adapting the material right off the page they took a lot of chapters very out of order and added Saya and her brother to a bunch of scenes they weren’t in. They can only do so much with the shallow characters (did you know Hotaru loves candy and has sizable breasts?) but I do think they deserve some credit for trying.

Shame they couldn’t do anything about Saya’s face though. Very, very unfortunate.

Yea this went downhill past episode 1, episode 1 was great though, nothing to say about this borefest at this point.

A show you probably overlooked: Boku dake ga Inai Machi/ Erased, was easily the best of the season, damn that show was good.

It was pretty good, yeah, I’d put that and Konosuba 1-2 for sure.

I’ve noticed people didn’t like the last episode compared to the rest of the series (I personally enjoyed it), but what is it people were looking for out of it? Were they mad the killer turned out to have terrible reasoning, like a serial killer is supposed to be a model of sanity?
