Flicking coins? Really? What is this, Final Fantasy?

Impressions:

Well, still not really letting down the side, aside from Hibiki spending her three minutes of the episode whining about not wanting to fight before getting blasted, but still not hitting the highs all that well either. We’ve seen how cool they can make Chris’s fights, especially in the first season, and she didn’t do much vs Coin Flicker than shoot skeet. I did get a chuckle out of Tsubasa just bringing a quick (temporary) end to the fight with Flamencobot by dropping a giant sword on her head out of nowhere, although that did kind of take away from a giant invisible monster robot (?) trying to drop a few boats on Chris’s head a minute later. Go big or go home. Toss a yacht or tanker or don’t bother. And please, no more awful looking CGI cars. It’s amazing how those haven’t gotten even a tiny bit better since the first season. Maria does, however, get points for just trying to run over Flamencobot instead of anything silly like swerving or the like.

Anyway, a little more stuff about the enemies came out too, in addition to random crap about last season’s antagonist’s boring affairs between seasons which, as long as they’re just sitting in the background twiddling their thumbs, I could not possibly care less about. Alchemy’s the name of the game this time around, which gives them special anti-gear abilities because, uh, alchemy or whatever. The weirdest part is that a little effort actually went into the fighting choregraphy for… the damned Noise of all things. Or maybe it was just for Tsubasa, since Chris just got another still. Oh wait, right. They’re special alchemy Noise that completely destroy gears with a touch. I guess that probably means new costumes for everybody. Or I guess, a good excuse to bring the declawed trio back into the fray while the originals take their turn twiddling their thumbs on the sidelines for a while.
