Mikagura School Suite #07 — Taking Stock

May 18th, 2015

You’d think with nothing to animate, they’d at least get perspectives right.

Friendly reminder, Robot Girls Z’s new (monthly) OVA season starts on Wednesday. Lupin III, meanwhile, still MIA and in limbo despite an announced May broadcast… and in Italian.

Impressions:

The camera bit at the start was no doubt supposed to call back to the first episode as a sign that something was supposed to start happening, but all it did for me was make me take stock with how much has already happened and wonder what was to come. The answer to both was a resounding nada. I guess I’m hoping to see a little bit of the action it showed in the second and third episodes, but as we go through another episode of pure padding tour of the entire cast with zero conflict between anybody followed by a half-assed angsty flashback tacked onto the end and nothing at all accomplished, that hope lies in a barren field.

So where are we then? No characters that have gotten focus/angsty flashbacks are important. Wait, that’s not quite correct. No characters are important. That’s better. The tournament I guess is vaguely of some import, but not so much so that we need to actually see any part of it. The only thing that it seems to be building up to is Eruna having a resemblance to Almost-Certainly-Evil Photogirl, and that gives Seisa complicated feelings. And by complicated feelings, I mean she blushes once. Don’t get too deep here, Proust.

2 Shouts From the Peanut Gallery

  • Sanjuro says:

I didn’t even remember that Eruna has lost the tournament.

  • The Phantom says:

They skipped her fight then skipped the final fight, how conveniently cheap.
