Akame #21 — ‘Cause He’s Like Jesus

But don’t bother disarming him or anything.
Impressions:
The episode began with them talking about how important Tatsumi was and how much he had changed them simply by existing, so within 30 seconds a goddamned minute and a half, I was hopelessly confused. There are two Tatsumis now? And one of them was out there doing something and having meaningful interactions with people instead of sitting around like a damp sponge? Why would you give such different characters the same name? Then I considered that it could be one of those ship in a bottle episodes where the crew flies through a singularity and it turns out they were sentient goop who forgot they were goop all along. But then I remembered I wasn’t watching Star Trek and got confused again.Â
Pretty much the same as every other ‘action’ packed episode of the show. Lots of speedlines, lots of posturing, lots of announcing particularly inane crap like “Oh no, I can’t move!” and since it seems to be a recurring theme, Mine wins her fight by relying on the full power of the ass-pull gun out-beaming someone because of all the danger she was in. I think my favorite moment was when Lightning Head shot the flying manta ray, completely electrifying it, and everyone, including all the people on top of it, simply ignored it. All the nonsense with Susan and regenerating/using life force (ie grunting and then a little mouth blood) to power up was also high up there. I think I’m developing a nervous retch every time someone says “Interesting!” too.Â
Next Episode:
The titular character finally does something, maybe.

So they actually turned this into a cheap DBZ rip off.
