Unlimited Blade Works #01b — Shut the Hell Up, Lancer

Cram a bulg in it or something.
Impressions:
Somewhat shockingly, they got to Shirou summoning Saber about halfway through this episode, meaning that it only took 25 minutes this week to get to something interesting instead of 35. Didn’t stop Lancer from once again carrying on about a five goddamned minute monologue before, during, and after the stabbing though. Saber also seems to have his mouth diarrhea and they took a time out from the fight to jaw and glare at each other like it was a pro wrestling match. Their fight also wasn’t nearly as well done as the fight last week though, and knowing how this story goes, I fear that this will probably be the last action scene for a while.
Not to belabor the point of an exceedingly belabored two hour episodes, but there was still no reason that this needed to be padded out this much. If the rest of the series is more like the second halves of these excessively padded intro episodes than the first, it’ll at least be eye candy. I’m not that optimistic. I’d love to see some extra Rider or Berserker stuff early on, but the slavish dedication to the source means that eyecandy’s about the best I can hope for. At least there’s a hell of a lot less CGI and dour men glaring at each other sold as ‘action’ this time around.
Still needs a claymation ED though. I miss UFOTable claymation.

Whoa Gae Bulg’s bling bling went up 1000%. The fight still seemed pretty good to me. Well to be honest the speed was so high I couldn’t pick out any dips in animation x.x
