Brynhildr in the Darkness #02 — Will It Blend?

April 13th, 2014

Yes, it will.

I flipped through Love Live’s second fifteenth episode (OP) and it was indeed just a selection of random short unconnected training vignettes before they all got together again and had a ‘heartwarming’ friendship song. The closest thing to a narrative or cohesive element the episode had was a squirrel stealing Nico’s snacks. I’ve been down this road before and am not eager to entertain another three months of it.

Impressions:

Continuing the trend of second episodes going absolutely nowhere… Most of the start was spent trying to convince Kuroha that she needs to do her homework and go to high school. She also took it just a little too easily when he kept showing up and trying to touch things, like her paralyzed-except-for-her-fingers magical friend. Boy, is that sure easy on the budget. And of course, just because one is completely paralyzed and helpless doesn’t mean that one shouldn’t wear frilly, over-designed nonsense.

It threatened to actually do something at the halfway point with the news that some other member of the super friends had been captured by The Man, but did not. She was just reduced to sludge. Instead, we went back to class for her to read kanji like kana. Ba-dum tss. And then it was off to accidentally save someone from a car crash. Then they blended up a cake and fed it to the paralyzed girl and jam started pouring out of Kuroha’s face. The end. Zzzzz…

Next Episode:

Blood.

This thing is so painfully moronic. At least Neko’s retarded antics provide a decent reason to keep watching.
