That little aside may have been the closes thing this show had to a sight gag.

Impressions:

I’m not Japanese enough for this show. Luckily, it’s also pretty much unanimated, the director didn’t show up, and Bazooka Joe has its jokes beat, so I can use any of those as an out instead of my obvious cultural deficiencies. The Japanese version of hell(s) is just the beginning. I hope you’re also familiar with the commercials for Japanese banks too, and god only knows what I missed or just passed over me as more of its monotonic stream of drone. I think they started talking about an actress or idol or something too and I was just like “Yeah, sure, show. Whatever you say.” Of course, even if you did know who they were talking about, the joke went something along the lines of:

“I really like Scarlett Johansson/Twiggy/Jack McCoy/Whoever Kids Are Into These Days.”
“She’s taken.”
–SHOCKED REACTION–

I’d say that it’s a show entirely of anti-punchlines to non-setups, but they were obviously very satisfied with some of the ‘jokes’ they made. But at least there were some disturbing CGI goldfishplants. Another piece of Japanese culture that may or may not be hilarious to you if you begin each day by disemboweling yourself for waking up dishonorably with messy hair.
