Yozakura Quartet #12 — Giant Phallus Substitutes

December 22nd, 2013

All swords are just euphemisms for penises.

Impressions:

Not nearly as tense as it really should have been. Probably because of all the flashbacks cutting away from everything. And that it was primarily just talking about feeeelings again, something that this season has exhausted my patience for. Hell, the entire first half just consisted of flashbacks, her fondling Juri, more flashbacks, flashbacks for Zakuro, and a slow moving giant sword. Even once the knife throwing finally began (and ended about 30 seconds later to a wacky muted trumpet), she was nearly crushed out of frustration with her more than anything else before Juri stopped them.

And that Lila never got beyond “petulant child angry that she wasn’t getting enough attention.” And that once all the protagonists were tossed away, Lila was taken out by a pair of random side characters with a magic science lightning thingy out of bloody nowhere. And then that was it. Time for more feelings and hugs. Antagonist defeated by random people on the street. Thanks for showing up, protagonists. You were significantly less useful and relevant to beating her than Random Townspeople #7 and #8.

Next Episode:

An inconclusive showdown with Enjin.

3 Shouts From the Peanut Gallery

  • Silentbrick says:

This is the third iteration of this anime in just a few years, is there a reason they keep making it as the first time around I didn’t even find it very engaging and just reading the commentary on it, it seems like it’s gotten nothing but sillier since then.

    What’s the deal?

  • The Phantom says:

Bha! this was not bad enough to be entertaining, I will probably stick to either white album 2 or golden time as the most entertaining comedies of the season.

  • anise_punter says:

On the whole, this has been disappointing.
