Why Is This Still Airing? #11 — Botan Fights Bears

October 3rd, 2013

Oh right. The nearly month it’s taken off during its run.

Impressions:

Ugh. Here we have the rare situation where it may be more mentally annoying to finish off the last couple episodes than to just abandon it thanks to the billion Thursday shows. Especially if it’s going to pull awful origin stories out to fill half an episode. Did they also forget that it was only an episode ago (probably) where they showed Botan’s dojo life full of people and her interacting with them in a relatively normal way? Trying to paint her as a loner touched by Sakura’s friendship now is a little bit… I’d say insincere, but there’s a good chance that the writers here just completely clueless. It was a boring and lifeless segment anyway. Gag comedies need to stop trying to touch me. It makes me uncomfortable.

I guess the second half was better (not saying much), but like many a thing with this show, the student president thing was a lot of wasted potential and crammed into about five minutes, most of which was spent explaining what her apparently personality traits and actions would be had she done anything before she disappeared again. And then they made music by leglocking a bear. Sadly, not as amusing as it sounds. I’m also not sure why that didn’t come in the last episode instead of this one, but I suppose that’s par for the course with this show.

Next Episode:

Covering this next week is going to be even more exhausting and draining.
