Impressions:

Peaking behind the veil here for a second, but when I went to grab the raw, this was the thumbnail for the episode the uploader used and I just couldn’t help but just laugh. And so I resigned myself to an episode of the show spinning its wheels for another episode, although again, a very different brand of wheel spinning than Rozen Maiden’s insistence on using square tires and trying to drive the car using grit and sand in place of gasoline. In reverse. And spin its wheels it did. But then it hit that part and good god. If you’re going to be corny and cheesy, then may as well lean into it with all your damned strength and that’s what it did. (Edit: With Jackie Chan even.) Which didn’t exactly fit with the other 18 minutes or so of antagonists being angsty or Hibiki curling up in the fetal position and whimpering from the darkness within, but goddamn if I didn’t laugh like an idiot.

At least next week should be better, or at least be an end to them fighting the Noise, hopefully for the season and moving into the endgame. Adding Miku as a brainwashed antagonist seems a little silly considering how little they’ve fought the already existing antagonists over the past month. Maybe it’ll finally make Miku not a horrible waste of space, although I doubt it. I’d much rather see Maria join the plot again after her month long time out than do pretty much anything with Miku.
