Impressions:

The show continues to unfortunately spend a lot of time treading water in this middle area. Well, treading water for this show, which still covers more ground than the entirety of Rozen Maiden so far. And Dr. Evil’s strange noises leading into the commercial break notwithstanding. I continue to have trouble with their attempts to turn Maria into a face by having her be horrified over accidentally killing simulated people while cooperating with the guy who slaughters children because they were there. I never really bought into the whole "I am the new Finé thing because magic" either, even keeping the nonsensicality of everything else in the show into mind. At best, I really only expected it to result in the a complex love hate relationship with the moon. I may have been setting my expectations too high. They hardly did anything with it with Maria to begin with, and now we’re playing the shell game with her soul between characters, which means… Well, they haven’t gotten far enough to establish that yet. Only that it’s magic. And causes angsting because… Well, that could also use some work.

Aaaaand I’ve mentioned it many a time before, but Miku continues to just annoy me. She is the Jimmy Olsen to the show’s super characters, only never once accidentally turned Hibiki straight with lavender kryptonite. I hope she’s dead even knowing that the chance of someone dying in a distant explosion where nobody can see them lies somewhere around a -95% chance of happening. At least they didn’t trot out the entire school cast for friendship time. The Noise are starting to tire me too. All these magical girls all over the place and they just keep hitting the damned punching bags. And where the hell have Tsubasa and Boobs been lately for that matter? We’ve been almost a month now and they haven’t even shown up except to look at some charts and punch a wall. Wasn’t Tsubasa Maria’s designated rival at some point? Wasn’t her manager some kind of kung fu warrior? That seems like something much more interesting than Miku making Hibiki startle fish. Which sadly, is not a euphemism for cunnilingus.
