Sunday Without God #07 — Episode Seven, Time For Tits

August 17th, 2013

Why is this show so afraid of using the things it introduces?

Impressions:

There’s something almost insulting about the way Ai happily takes to being essentially kidnapped and dumped into a school, starry eyed and excited at the prospect of getting to wear a school uniform, but I suppose I’ve already mentioned more than a few times my displeasure with the way her character warps at random to fit whatever situation she’s in, as well as wondering why it introduces things like adopted witch babies to then immediately ignore them. Or hell, Yuri and Scar period. I’m still waiting for them to serve a purpose. There’s something almost like cognitive dissonance when Ai starts talking about how they’re always worrying about her.

Anyway, apparently this arc will be serving as the real introduction to the Lion Masked Guy Whose Name I’ve Already Forgotten But Is Something Like Alis And His Giggling Tomboy Ghost Girlfriend Who Has An Obnoxious Mouthful Of A Name That Begins With Dee or Something. Of course, they only get there in the last couple minutes and get there by way of some remarkably awful cliches, including the strict headmistress and guys breaking into the bath only to have accoutrements thrown at them and be called peepers. They even played an obnoxious flute and xylophone to make sure everyone realized it was a comical.

Otherwise, not much. You could probably skip right to the last three minutes and all you’d miss are some shots of ankles and bare shoulders. Even then, the audience’s avatar of agency here, the principle actor and supposed driver of the story, simply just stands there with a confused look on her face while the ghost foreshadows at her. Exciting!

Next Episode:

Gears, gears, gears.
