Daybreak Illusion #07 — Blowing Glass

August 17th, 2013

And ass.

Impressions:

So with all the character episodes over, it’s time to finally get the plot going right? Or give the antagonist an episode? No. Of course not. What did you think this is? A medium that doesn’t thrive on a persistent refusal to allow stories and characters to develop? That means it’s an entire episode of just wasting time. Montages of them walking around, eating crepes, blowing glass, and then that old oh so fantastic chestnut of Japanese cliches, the half-assed test of courage. Not even the bad graces to infodump a bunch of crap for me to ignore. Just blatantly wasting time for twenty minutes because apparently, they couldn’t think of enough to fill a whole single season.

But at least there were some particularly ugly-ass CG vehicles. Truly this episode was all worth it then.

If you’re reading this, then I’ve forgotten to change the template.

3 Shouts From the Peanut Gallery

I could be wrong here, but isn’t this the typical set-up episode where the audience is suppose to love them, love their friendship, love their ponies, never want to “the old gang” to split up etc., etc…. before they’re all horribly slaughtered or spend three episodes watching their friends die some miserable cartoon death?

It seems that many series have an episode where there’s some idyllic warm fuzzy feelings of bonding just before we see their heads on a pike, crying, and adult choices.

Or maybe it was just shitty filler as they try to stretch an already paper thin plot further…
